C-60 – Welding Contractor

A welding contractor causes metals to become permanently attached, joined and fabricated by the use of gases and electrical energy, which creates temperatures of sufficient heat to perform this work.

The Welding (C-60) Examination is divided into six major sections. These sections are:

1. Job Evaluations and Estimating (10%)

  • Plans, Specifications, and Drawings
  • Equipment, Materials, and Supplies
  • Job Task Scheduling

2. Shop Equipment and Materials (20%)

  • Shop Equipment
  • Shop Materials, Consumables, and Reports
  • Shop Housekeeping and Safety

3. Fabrication (19%)

  • Shop Layouts
  • Shop Cutting
  • Grinding, Forming, and Tack Welding

4. Welding Processes (12%)

  • Brazing
  • Gas Welding
  • Arc Welding

5. Field Work (29%)

  • Field Layouts and Installations
  • Field Welding and Weld Symbols
  • Field Equipment and Transporting
  • Field Housekeeping and Safety

6. Repair Processes (10%)

  • Repair Evaluations
  • Repair Processes
