– Parking and Highway Improvement Contractor
A
parking and highway improvement contractor applies and installs
protective coatings, vehicle stops, guard rails and mechanical devices,
directional lines, buttons, markers, signs and arrows on the horizontal
surface of any game court, parking facility, airport, highway or
roadway constructed of concrete, asphalt or similar material. This
classification includes the surface preparatory work necessary for the
application of protective coatings but does not include the re-paving
of these surfaces.
The
Parking and Highway Improvement (C-32) examination is divided into six
major sections. These sections are:

Surface Coatings (30%)
- Evaluate
weather and mix design
- Prepare
areas for surface coatings
- Apply
surface coatings
2.
Planning and Estimating (21%)
- Evaluate
project site
- Read
plans and specifications
- Estimate
material and equipment
- Estimate
time and labor
- Contact
authorizing agency
3.
Striping and Pavement Markers
(19%)
- Evaluate
weather conditions
- Layout
striping and pavement marker patterns
- Remove
conflicting striping and pavement markers and clean area
- Apply
striping and pavement markers
4.
Job Safety and Traffic Control
(18%)
- Design
traffic control plan
- Install
and remove traffic control
- Protect
public from safety hazards
- Identify
and correct unsafe working conditions
5.
Special Applications (6%)
- Apply
game court surface coatings and striping
- Apply
airport/heliport surface coatings and striping
- Install
speed bumps, wheel stops, guardrail, attenuators, parking control
gates, etc.
6.
Incidental Pavement Repair (6%)
- Evaluate
cause of pavement failure
- Remove
and replace damaged pavement
