C-17 – Glazing Contractor

A glazing contractor selects, cuts, assembles and/or installs all makes and kinds of glass, glass work, mirrored glass, and glass substitute materials for glazing; executes the fabrication and glazing of frames, panels, sashes and doors; and/or installs these items in any structure

The Glazing (C-17) Examination is divided into five major sections. These sections are:

1. Job Planning and Estimating (19%)

  • Evaluating plans and specifications
  • Estimating materials and equipment
  • Scheduling and coordinating job
  • Basic mathematical calculations

2. Fabrication and Installation of Framing Systems (20%)

  • Field verification of openings
  • Fabricating framing systems
  • Measuring and squaring
  • Installation of framing systems
  • Application of sealants

3. Fabrication and Installation of Glazing Materials (21%)

  • Codes and industry standards
  • Types of glazing materials required
  • Fabrication of glazing materials
  • Installation of glazing materials
  • Installation of shower enclosures and mirrors

4. Replacement Work (20%)

  • Codes and industry standards
  • Removal of existing glazing
  • Preparation of openings
  • Installation of replacement glazing
  • Disposal of removed materials

5. Job Safety (20%)

  • Identification of job safety hazards
  • Implementation of safety programs
  • Materials, tools and equipment safety
